33-back Firestorm...how much should I be paying?

I felt like I was getting shilled (only one person bidding against me) and I maxed out at $125 so far. I intend on winning it, but I'm not one to shell out HUGE amounts on something other than non-production items.

I currently have 5 of the previously-released characters on 33-backs and want to get at least the ones released at retail. So far I have Robin, Wonder Woman, Darkseid, Desaad and Steppenwolf.

Mike, what have the few Firestorms you've seen gone for? Anything I can use as reference?

Peace,

Chip

Chip,

Very few examples of the 33-Back Firestorm have surfaced thus far, so it's extremely difficult for me to provide a solid assessment on value.

I noticed there wasn't a picture of one on the site here...do you have one in your collection?

Peace,

Gee, thanks a lot Mike...if you wanted the damn thing, why didn't you let me know? I watched the stupid auction all week.

Chip,

I would never have expected you to hold off nor asked you to hold off on bidding on the 3rd series Firestorm for me, so I did not feel comfortable discussing my intentions to bid as I didn't want you to feel like I was wanting you to back down. I answered you honestly in that this is a VERY difficult item to value because so few have changed hands publicly. I've been trying to add this piece to my Super Powers collection for several years now, so I was quite excited upon finding the auction in my Super Powers eBay search. I'm sorry that the auction loss left a bad taste in your mouth, but from my perspective we both had an equal opportunity to win and the auction played out fair and square. Although I really don't know you very well, I certainly have enjoyed our discussions about Super Powers throughout the past few weeks and hope those discussions won't cease to take place. I can tell you with 100% certainty that I'd have congratulated you on an auction well fought had you ended up winning the auction and would certainly not have been frustrated with you in any way, shape, or form.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for replying, Mike.

I guess my point is that I would have backed off since there was no way I could outbid you on something like this, and for my own benefit I wouldn't have been anticipating winning it all week only to be disappointed.

That's all I was trying to say. Glad you scored it for your collection. Just out of curiosity, how much was your final bid? I had one for $300 queued up but unfortunately for me chose the $225 one instead.

Peace,

Chip

I would also just like to request that you let me know when you want something like this in the future, because I would rather know up front...I don't mind not bidding, and can focus my attention elsewhere.

If you ever have a lead on another one, please let me know. Until then I'll just have to wait it out.

Peace,

Chip

Chip,

In the future if you ask me about something that I already plan to bid on, I'll be sure to let you know out of courtesy to your request. I do still feel strongly that you have every right to bid on an item regardless of whether I or anyone else on this forum is bidding.

The $300 bid would not have bested the bid I placed...I'd prefer not to be asked to reveal anything further about my bid amount as I consider that information private.

I'll definitely keep my eyes out for the next example for you. Although some of the early characters are unproduced, one-of-a-kind carded sample prototypes, Firestorm is definitely not one of them...it was definitely released. As such, I'm certain another will surface.

Sincerely,
Mike Mensinger

Well, we're all in this together. I'm nowhere near the level you are as far as a collection, and certainly don't mind focusing my attention to something that you don't need. There shouldn't be much you do, so I think I'm safe. emoticon

That's quite alright...that's the question I should have asked anyway, and it makes me feel better that there was nothing I could have done. That's the highest I could have gone.

Me too...I just hope I'm not in a rest home when it does. emoticon

Thanks for conversing about this level-headedly...I appreciate it.

Peace,

Chip
