Re: Aaron's other toy collections...

Thanks guys! I had a bunch of activity this summer in terms of adding to and refining my collection and submitting material to AFA and other "projects".

Now it's all kind of coming back at once (and I have to admit to checking the mail each day like it's Christmas!). I feel like my collection, while expanded, has never been more organized and focused.

First non-Super Powers addition in awhile: I was finally able to track down an AFA 85 German Mechanic to complete my US production run of Kenner Indiana Jones figures on their debut cards.

This leaves me down to needing AFA 85 examples of the carded Arabian Horse, the Streets of Cairo boxed play-set, and the boxed Desert Convoy Truck vehicle to have the complete US production run of the Kenner Indiana Jones release in AFA 85 or better.

Plus I'd still like to track down a Belloq Ceremonial card proof or the grail of grails, an actual carded sample.

Re: Aaron's other toy collections...

And after not picking up anything at C7, I was very fortunate to snag this "Collect All 21" Star Wars bell display.

Feels like I am really hitting a cross-roads with my toy collecting. My Indiana Jones run is complete except for three very tough to find high-grade vehicle/play-sets. And those last three items are going to be ultra-tough to find in AFA 85.

And on the Super Powers side, I have completed my loose run (34/34), have 23/33 of debut carded figures, and 6 of the 9 vehicles and play-sets. So 63 of 76 of the items I was looking for in AFA 85, with the last 13 going to be very, very tough (and I've been quietly enacting a contingency plan anyway).

It's left me feeling that I might want to start seriously collecting another line, and for the first time, I'm thinking I might take a real shot at a run of Star Wars figures. I've resisted it for awhile, but I might be ready to take the plunge.

Fantastic display piece you have added. Star Wars is such a diverse line with so many subsets you could spend forever on it so it is perfect to have as a side line. You want carded, loose, Kenner, ledy, pbp/poch etc..?
If your looking for a fun and challenging line the I always suggest Star Wars lili ledy figures. Still attainable, but you won't finish the line in one quick strike and will keep you hunting for a while to give you something to look for.

Definitely Kenner, and I'm thinking more and more that I would want to start with Return of the Jedi debut carded figures. I had all the Star Wars and ESB figures when I was a kid, but stopped after getting a few of the first waive of ROJ figures in early 1983.

So for the most part, all of those figures are "new" to me, and something I didn't have or experience as a kid (just like Super Powers). It helps that most of them are still reasonably priced, so I'm thinking I could put together a really nice set of ROJ and then POTF figures, especially since I'm not as bothered by yellowing bubbles as some other collectors.

That's actually a very cool focus to shoot for. I think the most expesive in that run would certainly be the potf line, but they are still attainable and not to terribly expensive.

Great display piece Aaron!

I agree with Bryan PotF are out there and attainable, but will definitely be on the higher priced side. Once down the rabbit hole and you decide to complete the line Carded Yak Face will be the expensive purchase.

Ken, I dint even think of the Yak Face. That one may not be attainable, but he wasn't available on American potf card anyway right? The yak face potf is a Canadian card as far as I know.
