Chad (trinity5614)

Hey everyone. My name is Chad and I am in Knoxville, TN. Super Powers were one of my all time fav as a child. I had some EPIC battles in the yard and in my parents basement with them. They were new and on the shelves when I was a kid. I have recently started collecting them again, my mother is still on the hunt for my old ones at her house. I just received my first on the card figure. Its a Luthor 12 back fan club. I was so excited to see it when it came in the mail. It was like a time warp back to standing in the Kmart toy isle as a young boy. Just wanted to say hi. I am still trying to gather information about all that is out there Super Powers. If anyone has a collecting guide type thread I would love to find that.

Hey Chad! Welcome! Congrats on the Lex! Definitely exciting to get that jolt of nostalgia when going to the mailbox. There is a wealth of information here concerning all aspects of Super Powers, so just take a look around, both the forums and the kennersuperpowers site.

Have fun!

Welcome to the forums, Chad. I'm up in Bristol, TN - work in Kingsport.

My best advice for getting started on this site/forums is to start on Mike's wonderful main page. Familiarize yourself with the line itself, and then try to wrap your head around which figures were released at what times. I'm sure that already sounds daunting, but it's really not that bad. Once you're ready for the nitty gritty, at that point I'd pour over some (most emoticon) of the older, larger threads to get really caught up. Let any of us know if we can help! Grats on the Lex. 12-back fan clubs are a great jumping on point.

Hey Chad, glad to have you!

As far as some sort of collecting guide, there's really no quick answer for that. It really depends on what you're going for in a collection, and there are so many options with this set which is what makes it so fun to collect.

First I would start here:
http://www.kennersuperpowers.com/superpowersfigures.html

Mike has put together a great collection of resources on each figure type, and it will also give you an idea of scope for your collection. Using Mike's guide in the link above you'll be able to see each character and a list of the different variations of each figure cardback and pictures of many of them.

If you're going for one of each figure without really being concerned with cardback variation, then between ebay and this board, you should be able to find what you need on whatever budget you're trying to work with. For example, generally speaking the canadian cardbacks go for a little cheaper than the others. If you're going for a complete US set then you have many options to form your collection since there are many different types of cardbacks to choose the best deals from.

A lot of members choose a character to focus on (I have 4 or 5 that I focus on myself) and just get figures from that character but try to get every possible variation. It really just depends on what you want your goals to be as a collector.

If you don't find what you're looking for on the boards (it's a lot to read!) then feel free to make a post about it or even message me directly if you have questions or need a good starting point on forming a collection. There are lots of great people on this board more than willing to help another fellow SP collector!

Thanks so much guys for the welcome. I am excited to play around with this new hobby. I will be sure to ask questions when I need them. Wish me luck on finding my old loose figures and vehicles. I hope they are still in storage somewhere.
