Inside Super Powers

Growing up I had always wondered what made Super Powers work. I just purchased a fodder lot to customize and thought it would be fun to show the inner workings of some of the figures. Forgive me if someone has already done this. It always impresses me to see the detailed but simple engineering that goes into figures like this.

For Aquaman it looks like we have a spring on both arms that when bent upward turns a cam attached to the legs turning them in opposite directions.

Re: Aquaman revealed

Hey,
There've been a few threads like this before, but none for Aquaman that I've seen, so this is super cool! Be sure to fill us in on how your customizing goes, and if you ever decide to sell customs, or start talking commissions... I'm the guy to talk to. ;-)

Re: Aquaman revealed

Asher, you can go look at my collection thread. I did the same for Wonder Woman and ended up mounting her in a shadow box for my display. I have a blog post about it as well. The link to my blog is in my signature below.

Thanks for sharing!

Someone clearly was playing with that Aquaman in the bathtub back in the day!

HA! So true! None of the others I have opened have been so rusted up.

Here is another look inside; this time Hawkman. Actually this one was more simple than I had imagined. The legs are connected to a very thin wire that provides inward resistance and resets the wings when the legs are released. Who knew the power of flight was so easy?!

Looks like Steppenwolf took a bad magic carpet ride. emoticon

What are we looking at here? A one leg/ one arm cam shaft system? Anyone want to take a shot at naming the mechanical system we see here? Any enginners?

I will name it the "spring-loaded pinch and slide corkscrew system"

Please correct me. emoticon

Here's Martian Manhunter opened up.

In several I have opened it is interesting to see the different color arm pegs. I imagine this was to help the folks assembling the figures stay consistent in regards to which arm moved which way. Since the Mexico Superman is "left-handed" it makes me wonder if the colored pegs got switched. I assume if you reversed the pegs then he would go back to being right handed. I will not be opening my Mexico SM to find out! emoticon

Here's a Dr. Fate. Notice how the arm pegs are the same color, likely because both arms move in the same direction.
