Re: First Figure....

My first figure when I was a kid was Superman, which I received after being successfully potty trained.

First as an adult collector was a loose Plastic Man. I had just learned of the existence of the third wave (never had them as a kid and this was right as the internet was gaining popularity) and came across him in a toy/comic shop. I got really excited and bought it right away. I way over paid but I was glad to have found it.

Re: First Figure....

I don't remember what the first figure that I got as a kid was, but I do very vividly remember getting the Batmobile for my birthday one year. I was probably 4 or 5. I also remember going to Best (did non-Ohio people have Best?) and seeing SP figures on an end cap there, including what I still swear up-and-down was a two-pack of Batman and Robin. I've never been able to confirm that, though.

I never really got out of Super Powers when I was growing up. In high school I decided to put together a mint loose set. The first one I got when I did that was The Penguin.

When I was older and decided to put together a carded set, the first figure I bought was a Firestorm.

Re: First Figure....

First figure as an adult was a 12-back Canadian Flash with a beautiful card back but super yellow bubble. I probably got it for about $15 on Ebay in the early 2000's. Funny how I picked that one because I don't even like the Canadian cardbacks and have since sold off all my Canadian SP figures. However, due to nostalgia, I actually purchased an AFA 80-Y graded Canadian Flash off Ebay in later years just to keep it as a reminder of me picking up my first SP as an "adult".

As for a kid, I clearly remember being at Long's Drugs with my Mom and begging for a toy. She gave in and gave me a choice. I migrated to the SP figures and eventually picked up a Green Lantern (Robin and Flash were closed seconds). I can't remember if it was a 12 or 23-back but I loved the heck out of that figure. Later in life, I picked up a beater GL and have been contemplating opening it up for many years as a tribute to that first SP figure as a kid.

Sadly, I went through a destructive phase as a teenager and actually destroyed all my childhood SP figures (still pissed at myself for that). However, I did keep alot of my childhood SP cardbacks but most are cut up because I took off the POP and cut the bios out. Hey, I was a kid! You were supposed to enjoy all aspects of your toys! I will take a picture one day when I get them out of storage.

My first figure as a kid was GL. I didn't know much about him until I got the carrying case, and read his origin. I fell IN LOVE with DC comics characters and got almost the entire line. I was only missing Kalibak, his Boulder Bomber, Orion, Samurai, Golden Pharaoh, Cyborg, Mr. Freeze, Tyr, the Jogger, and the Batcopter. The only reason I missed those was that they were so damn hard to find. I saw Kalibak several times and [sign in to see URL] I NEVER saw Cyborg or Mr. Freeze, and I was actively hunting them at age 8. My cousin had Orion, so I got to play with his.

I had almost all of those childhood figures until I was a teenager, and I honestly don't know what happened to them. I started re-collecting them in about 2010 and had to have them all!
